The local community within Chelmsford are now able to access a new reuse and recycling scheme set up by joint partners Essex County Council and Tendring Reuse and Employment Enterprise. The event was officiated by Councillor Sarah Candy and Deputy Mayor Nicolette Chambers who jointly cut the ribbon to launch this new project. The scheme will help divert unwanted electrical white goods and good quality furniture from landfill, helping the environment. Within this project there will be opportunities to provide training and work placements for people who would have traditionally attended Chelmsford Resource Centre. T.R.E.E. 2 Chelmsford situated off Hoffmans Way is a training cooperative supporting people to gain the necessary skills, to enable the individual to access the world of work.
The unit will be T.R.E.E.’s main distribution centre for their office furniture project called Evergreen. It was funded with a grant of £68,100 from the Business Reuse Fund administered by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT).
The benefit for the local community will also be that they will be able to donate their surplus furniture and electrical white goods to help disadvantaged people in need and also be able to pledge their time for volunteering. Please visit the warehouse to see the range of items available at low cost.
All the appliances will be PAT tested and functional checked and guaranteed for 3 months. All furniture will be cleaned and checked, and soft furnishings will carry the appropriate fire regulation label.
Tendring Reuse is based at Synergy Centre, Hoffmans Way, Chelmsford CM1 1GU.
To make a donation simply call 01245 350355 or
email admin@tree1.org.uk.
The warehouse will be open for sales on Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

Office Furniture - Evergreen Project
The Evergreen Project was recently set up by T.R.E.E . and it received funding from the Business Reuse Fund of over £68,000. T.R.E.E. realised that many public and local businesses, in particular, local community groups and charities would benefit from having access to a service that could offer them low cost affordable office equipment and furniture. In the past this equipment would usually end up in the landfill sites now Evergreen takes any surplus items that may be suitable for reuse and offers them up for sale. |

Bits 'n' Bobs @ T.R.E.E.
Bits 'n' Bobs scrapstore is based within T.R.E.E.It recycles items donated from households and companies, reusing them in Art and Craft projects, rather than these items ending up in a landfill site. This encourages awareness and practice of reuse and recycling with schools, theatre groups, womens' institute, local playgroups and families and individuals by using reclaimed materials for creative play, hobbies and theatre set design to name but a few!Bits 'n' Bobs is supported in its running by members with varying degrees of learning disability. The scheme allows for training development leading to paid employment. We have displays of various pieces of work carried out by different membership groups to encourage others to utilise the items available and create their own unique scrapstore project. The scrapstore is visited by various groups to learn about reuse and recycling and they are given information packs which include practical project ideas to do at school, in the home or in community settings. It is supervised by Sharon O'Neill who is always looking for reusable products that all members will profit from, which in turn benefits the local community by saving items going to landfill. If you are interested in becoming a member, volunteering, or have items to donate e.g. arts and crafts materials, card, ribbon etc, please contact Sharon by email or telephone 01255 863007.Handy items made by June and Maureen using material donated to Bits 'n' Bobs. |
