T.R.E.E. Grows Its Roots In Chelmsford

 T.R.E.E. takes over the running of the Chelmsford Reuse Of Furniture Taskforce (CROFT)

 

In June 2008 T.R.E.E. took over the CROFT project and site in Hoffmanns Way, Chelmsford. After a lot of hardwork, the Community Warehouse Shop has been opened as a part of T.R.E.E. The official launch was held on Friday 6th of July 2008 to coincide with National Recycling Day, and was attended by members of local councils, as well as representitives and leaders of many other community groups and organisations.

The main presentations on the day explained the importance of community projects and recycling, talking of the benefits to both the local community and the environment. One of the speakers of the day was Bob Whitehead, Chairman of the Furniture Reuse Network (FRN)

The Chief Executive of T.R.E.E. Mark Penn spoke about how T.R.E.E. had grown over a short period of time, and how many people had been helped by the projects run by the charity. He continued by explaining his plans for the future of T.R.E.E. in Chelmsford, and thanked the staff for all the hard work put in by them to get the site in Chelmsford ready for the reopening.

Next to speak was David Triolo, Chairman of T.R.E.E. He expressed his delight with the work put in by his team at T.R.E.E. to get set up and operational in Chelmsford, offering improved services to a new community.

After the speakers had finished, and the releasing of the balloon to officially launch the project was completed, there was an opportunity for councillers, politicians, and other community groups to meet each other.

With many ideas and numbers being exchanged, the benefits of this social occasion could well be seen long after the balloons have deflated.
